Green Spot Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey has a legacy dating back to 1805 when the Mitchell family began trading in Dublin's fine wines and confectionery. Today, under the continued stewardship of Jonathan Mitchell and his son Robert, the family maintains its commitment to crafting exceptional wines and spirits, keeping the tradition alive for generations.
In 1887, the Mitchell family expanded into whiskey bonding, a practice involving the transport of empty casks to the Jameson Distillery for filling with whiskey. These casks, filled with the finest spirits, were then returned to the Mitchell's cellar warehouse to age until they reached perfection. Green Spot, a non-age statement Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey, represents the culmination of this legacy. Crafted from pot still whiskeys aged between 7 and 10 years, matured in a blend of new bourbon, refill bourbon, and sherry casks, it offers a distinctive and multifaceted flavour profile that captivates whiskey enthusiasts worldwide.
Originally created exclusively for the Mitchell family, Green Spot whiskey has a rich history rooted in Dublin's heart. The Mitchell family began their business in 1805 as purveyors of fine wines and confectionery on 10 Grafton St. and are still active in the wine and spirits industry today, under the leadership of Jonathan Mitchell and his son Robert, four generations later.
In 1887, the Mitchell family expanded their business into whiskey bonding, sending empty wine, sherry, and port casks via horse and cart to the nearby Jameson Distillery. These casks were then filled with whiskey and returned to the Mitchell's cellar warehouse, where they matured under bond for many years until ready to be bottled and sold.
