Edmond Briottet Crème de Cassis de Dijon (Blackcurrant) Liqueur utilises the most prestigious blackcurrant variety available. The berries are exclusively sourced from a farm in Burgundy, France, which has been a trusted supplier to the Briottet family business for generations. To extract the fullest range of flavours from the blackcurrant berries, they undergo a maceration process in a solution of water and alcohol for approximately 10 weeks. This method ensures optimal flavour extraction. The resulting liquid, known as an infusion, contains the alcohol-infused juice. French white sugar is then added to create the delightful Crème de Cassis. Indulge in the classic French cocktail tradition by mixing Briottet Crème de Cassis with dry white wine for a refreshing Kir. For a touch of elegance, substitute the wine with champagne or sparkling wine to create a Kir Royale. Savour the harmonious blend of flavours in these iconic French aperitifs.
Founded in 1836, Edmond Briottet traces its roots back to a prestigious wine house. However, in the early 1900s, the increasing demand for the beloved ""blanc-cassis"" aperitif prompted a significant shift in focus. Edmond Briottet made the decision to transition from the wine trade and dedicate themselves to the art of crafting exquisite Crème de Cassis. This marked the beginning of a new era for the brand.
Throughout the years, subsequent generations of the Briottet family have taken the reins, carrying forward the tradition of fine liqueur production. Expanding upon their expertise, the range of liqueurs has grown impressively, now encompassing an extensive selection of around sixty distinct flavours. Each of these creations showcases the passion, skill, and dedication that have become synonymous with the name Edmond Briottet.
